Weight Gain and Loss: How to Style Your LIFE, Not Just Your Body

Are you sick of:

  • Going to stores and entering a fitting room full of clothing only to find that they don’t fit “right”?

  • Looking in the mirror and not loving your body or your body shape?

  • Feeling overweight or underweight and unsure of how to step out of the never-ending cycle of insecurity?

Girl, I’ve been there. You’re in the right place.

Let’s get real and have a conversation about weight and about the way you look in the mirror.

An EPIC Mindset

Our brains are amazing–our minds create our reality. Whatever you mentally feed yourself will be the way you see the world. You have to be very intentional about what you allow in your space and in your life.

Whether you’re struggling with getting older, gaining weight, or comparing yourself to your pre-baby body, you need to be intentional with how you choose to get dressed every day –and that starts with loving YOURSELF.

Imagine this: you step into your closet and LOVE every item you have. Each piece fits your body perfectly, you love what you see in the mirror, and you get ready for the day by feeling confident in your clothes.

You do not need to be “at your goal weight” to love your body and your clothes. (Read that again!)

Let’s take a look at how to love your style and your body at every phase in your life, and how that translates to choosing your clothes.

Style Your Life: Size

This is such an overlooked step because we get hung up on trying to fit into the “right size”.We want to stick with a size SMALL to convince ourselves we’re skinny or choose baggier clothes to hide our figure or extra pounds.

Stop choosing your size based on your “dream body” and choose sizes that make your body feel like a dream.

We all have body insecurities and struggles, but the EPIC goal is to make sure that whatever you put on your body fits well and allows you to be confident and comfortable in your life.

Size Tips:

Comfort matters most: Buy YOUR size, not the mannequin’s. Does the piece fit comfortably, without tightness or extreme looseness? Avoid pieces that are distracting – if you have to keep tugging or adjusting something, you’re going to be insecure and spending your energy on a distracting piece rather than living your life.

Alterations are your friend: Don’t be afraid to get something altered to suit your unique body shape –it’s much better than choosing a smaller (and tighter!) piece that makes you uncomfortable. If you love a piece but need it hemmed, taken in, or added to, invest in yourself.

Style Your Life: Intentional Dressing

It is SUPER important that you wear things that align with your life. Mothers need their clothing to function in a different way compared to a career-driven woman (and there’s no shame in being both –or neither!).

Do you have a piece that you never wear but refuse to throw away? Do you have a piece that you dread wearing because it’s so uncomfortable or unflattering, but you don’t want to get rid of it? Chances are you’ve got a few items in mind. Whether you’re keeping that piece for your “goal weight” or for an event that’s never happened, it’s more inconvenient than intentional.

Clothing that you dread or avoid wearing is worthless. Each item in your wardrobe tells a story of who you are and what you’re trying to accomplish every day.Your closet should serve YOU, not your insecurities.

Do this: Close your eyes, block out all the outside noise, and decide these three things:

  • Who you want to be

  • What you want the world to see about you

  • How you want your life to look

Once you have clarity, you can begin to define your style and dress in a way that reflects your dream life and values.

Your Best Self Starts With Your CLOSET

When creating your EPIC wardrobe, it is essential to maximize your time by choosing functional, practical pieces. You want to be able to walk into your closet and get dressed instantly.

Your best self lies in how you dress yourself. You want to put together a stunning outfit that makes you feel confident and comfortable. If you’re constantly tugging or pulling at your clothing because it’s too big or too small, you won’t be giving all your energy to what you want to accomplish. When you wear clothing that looks AND feels best for you and your lifestyle, people will notice.

You will feel much more confident in your skin, and you won’t be weighed down (physically and mentally!) by insecurities and distractions that come from an awkward outfit. Wear clothing that moves with your life!

Learn How to Shop Online & How to Create a Functional Wardrobe

Shopping in person is fun – I love touching and trying on different fabrics in stores. While that may not be as feasible now, shopping online can be just as fulfilling.

Learning how to shop online takes extra effort, but once you learn your measurements and understand what you’re looking for, it becomes easy to update your wardrobe without leaving your house.

I want to teach you how to create a wardrobe that functions with the life that you’re leading NOW.

Whatever size you are, whatever body shape you have, I want to help you step forward in your life by teaching you how to dress for the life you want, show people who you want to be, and how you want others to perceive you. THAT is when you are going to transcend into a confident, EPIC life.
